Barnard’s Crunchy Dip was born in 1945 a product of the Barnard House Family Restaurant. The Barnard Family sold the restaurant in 1947 and established a manufacturing operation for Barnard’s Crunchy Dip in Wichita, Kansas. In 1949 they had their first ever food show booth in the Kansas Restaurant Association Convention. So many orders were placed they had to expand their production facility and hire several new employees.
In 1961 the business was sold to Bob Stevenson and production was moved to Iowa City, Iowa. At that time Gordon Food Products Corporation was formed and managed by Ted Rittenmeyer.
In 1964 Gordon Food Products was purchased and operated by Mr. Rittenmeyer, his family and employees for the next 30 years.

In 1994 the business was purchased by the UniNet Corporation and moved to a new manufacturing facility in Des Moines, Iowa. The name Gordon Food Products and “Barnard’s Crunchy Dip” remain the same, as does the highest standards of Quality and Service that the company and business have been built on. Continued Excellence, Service and Products for Foodservice.
